We strive to make STEM education accessible and exciting for every Ukrainian schoolchild. We know that this education is the key to the future success of our children and to the development and prosperity of our country. We seek to involve both international and local partners in this mission, in order to jointly provide our country’s children with access to the latest knowledge and skills in STEM disciplines. We will not stop until every Ukrainian schoolchild has the opportunity to obtain a STEM education that will help them achieve their dreams and build a better future for themselves and our country.

WE PROMOTE THE RIGHT OF EVERY UKRAINIAN SCHOOLCHILD TO AFFORDABLE AND QUALITY EDUCATION IN STEM DISCIPLINES, PAYING PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO CHILDREN AFFECTED BY WAR AND OCCUPATION.

NGO “STEM OSVITA Ukraine” helps maintain access to education for the most vulnerable age groups, in particular younger schoolchildren, in the most affected areas, where education has been resumed.

  1. Focuses on creating greater opportunities for those who may be excluded, such as children from areas where access to quality education is limited. We believe that we are obliged to overcome the risks of deepening inequality in education between cities and rural areas, giving children access to quality mathematics education.
  1. Actively uses platform applications that allow for the development of STEM competencies. We understand that the effective formation of children’s mathematical thinking contributes to the development of logical thinking, memory and the ability to solve problems and develop projects, and also affects the learning process as a whole in all educational fields. It is not for nothing that PISA international measurements of the quality of education are conducted precisely in the field of mathematics and conscious reading – key factors of success in schooling.
  1. Offers a variety of STEM programs that include interactive classes, trainings, workshops, hackathons and other activities that help children develop their STEM skills and purposefully prepare for the future.
  1. One of the key activities of the NGO is the support of teachers who teach STEM disciplines. The organization conducts educational seminars and trainings for teachers, helps provide the necessary resources and tools for conducting high-quality STEM lessons. Also, the NGO “STEM Osvita Ukraine” is engaged in research and analysis of the state of STEM education in Ukraine in order to understand what problems exist and what steps need to be taken to solve them.
  1. Collaborates with schools, universities, academic institutions, local authorities and other partners to ensure quality STEM education for all children and youth in Ukraine. The organization aims to achieve such a goal that STEM education is accessible to every Ukrainian schoolchild, regardless of place of residence, social status or economic situation in the family.

ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PROBLEMS OF MODERN UKRAINE IS THE EDUCATIONAL LOSSES OF CHILDREN DURING THE WAR AND THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, OVERCOMING THEM AND PROVIDING HIGH-QUALITY EDUCATION TO SCHOOLCHILDREN. THIS IS A TOPIC THAT EVOKES STRONG EMOTIONS AND DESERVES OUR ATTENTION.

With the beginning of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, our schools faced serious problems:
1

1

Destruction or complete destruction of objects of school infrastructure, equipment, educational literature and computer equipment.

2

2

Online or blended learning in the absence of appropriate technical means.

3

3

Insufficiently formed digital competence of teachers.

4

4

Uneven level of education of children. Today, classes can include displaced students from temporarily occupied territories; children in family education; schoolchildren who returned from abroad.

5

5

Uncertainty of the volume of educational losses and ways of compensation at the national level

6

6

The psycho-emotional state of all participants in the educational process, as well as the parents of schoolchildren – stress and post-traumatic syndromes, etc

PROJECT: Tackling the learning loss in mathematics of Ukrainian primary school students with Finnish solutions in math teaching

DONOR: EMBASSY OF FINLAND IN UKRAINE

With the support of the Embassy of Finland in Ukraine, a Finnish project to support the education of Ukrainian schoolchildren was launched, which is implemented by the NGO STEM Osvita Ukraine.

The project was deployed in the Ukrainian regions that suffered the most from Russian aggression – Kyiv and Chernihiv. The school infrastructure of these regions was almost completely destroyed. Schoolchildren have serious losses in learning outcomes, which are the consequences of the pandemic and war.

The relevance of the project is determined not only by the fact that educational support is provided to students of the most vulnerable age group – junior high school in the most affected areas, where education has been resumed. But also due to the fact that the platform’s applications make it possible to develop mathematical competences. Educators and psychologists all over the world are well aware that the effective formation of children’s mathematical thinking contributes to the development of logical thinking, memory, the ability to solve problems and develop projects, and affects the learning process as a whole, in all educational fields. It is not for nothing that PISA is an international measurement of the quality of education

GOAL OF THE PROJECT – DIAGNOSIS OF EDUCATIONAL LOSSES AND GAPS OF UKRAINIAN SCHOOLCHILDREN OF GRADES 1-5 IN LEARNING MATHEMATICS USING THE CAPABILITIES OF THE EDUTEN PLATFORM

THE IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS OF OVERCOMING MATHEMATICAL LOSSES

eng
THE NEED TO STUDY EDUCATIONAL LOSSES AND GAPS INCREASES IN CONNECTION WITH THE NEED FOR CONTENT AND INSTRUMENTAL PROVISION OF THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS BASED ON EXAMPLES OF EFFECTIVE METHODICAL SOLUTIONS, FINDING MEANS FOR MORAL, MOTIVATIONAL AND RESOURCE SUPPORT OF TEACHERS. THE SPECIAL BENEFIT OF EDUTEN FOR THE EDUCATION OF UKRAINE IN WARTIME CONDITIONS IS THE SERVICES OF THE PLATFORM, WHICH INSTANTLY PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL ANALYTICS. IN REAL-TIME, TEACHERS CAN ASSESS STUDENTS’ ACTUAL LEARNING ABILITY IN MATH AND USE ANALYTICS TO IMMEDIATELY HELP CHILDREN CLOSE GAPS IN SPECIFIC MATH SKILLS.

GAMIFIED EDUCATIONAL TASKS ON THE EDUTEN PLATFORM

Complex diagnostic tests were compiled using Eduten materials – a separate test for each class. The tasks were selected in such a way as to ensure compliance with all the content blocks of the mathematics course at each level of education. In terms of form, part of the tasks resembled traditional exercises that are usually included in school textbooks and notebooks, and part was presented in the form of games, which made it possible to reduce children’s stress and anxiety during work.
